In an incident that has raised concern, a leopard entered a residential within the Nashik district’s Mungsare village on Sunday evening and attacked a pet canine. CCTV footage of the incident, shared by information company ANI, reveals the wild animal getting into the residential space as a black canine – sporting a purple collar – jumps in shock and tries to confront it.

The leopard assaults the canine. Within the footage, the leopard could possibly be seen working away after confronting the barking canine. Although the video isn’t very clear, it appears the wild animal is taking away the canine in its jaws in chilling visuals.

The video has greater than 65,400 views on Twitter with reactions from customers elevating concern. Talking to ANI, Pankaj Garg the deputy conservator of forest, Nashik appealed to locals to “stay indoors at evening as leopard exercise had elevated within the space”. “Individuals should stay alert,” Garg added.

This isn’t the primary time that leopards have entered residential areas in Nashik. In March, a 55-year-old girl was killed after being attacked by a leopard within the Igatpuri Taluka space, which is a wildlife hall within the district.

In June 2021, CCTV footage from the Bhuse village confirmed a leopard taking away a canine sleeping outdoors a home.

With shrinking forest areas, wild animals have been breaching human habitations looking for meals.
