AIMIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi was fact-checked by the Srinagar Police on suggesting that the J&Ok authorities has been shutting down Jama Masjid in Srinagar each Friday.
He made the faulty assertion within the wake of a cinema corridor opening within the valley after three many years.
He tweeted, “Sir @manojsinha_ you have opened Cinema Halls in Shopian & Pulwama but why is Srinagar Jamia Masjid shut on every Friday at least don’t shut it during the afternoon matinee show.”
The Srinagar Police, quoting Owaisi’s tweet, chided the lawmaker for his ignorance and clarified that Jamia is absolutely opened.
Solely on three events, post-Covid, Masjid was quickly shut for Friday midday prayers owing to inputs of terror assault/regulation and order state of affairs. This was after Jamia authorities didn’t take accountability for happenings inside, the police added.
Along with his tweet, Owaisi was trying to attract false equivalence between cinema corridor and mosque. Nonetheless, well timed reply by the police ensured that the defective narrative doesn’t fly.
On 18 September, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a multipurpose cinema corridor every within the twin south Kashmir districts of Pulwama and Shopian, virtually three many years after theatre homeowners had been pressured to tug down the shutters by violent Islamists within the valley.
A variety of theatres had been burnt down as they had been thought-about un-Islamic.
Although the theatres had been uprooted, Jammu and Kashmir remained a favorite spot for filmmakers to shoot films within the area. On the day of the inauguration of INOX’s new multipurpose cinema corridor, LG Sinha laid out the plan to construct such halls in each district of J&Ok.
Kashmir’s first multiplex in Srinagar’s Somwar space shall be thrown open to the general public quickly. It is going to have three film theatres with a complete capability of 520 seats.
In accordance with the LG, the brand new cinema halls will generate employment for locals and supply a vibrant area for coaching the youth and conducting seminars.
