(CNN) — Two girls have been arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport and accused of smuggling after 109 reside animals have been discovered of their baggage, Thai officers say.

Thailand’s Division of Nationwide Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation mentioned on Monday the wild animals have been found in two suitcases following an x-ray inspection.

Wildlife officers known as to the scene found two white porcupines, two armadillos, 35 turtles, 50 lizards and 20 snakes within the two items of baggage.

Thai authorities mentioned the suitcases belonged to 2 Indian girls: Nithya Raja, 38, and Zakia Sulthana Ebrahim, 24, who have been resulting from board a flight to the Indian metropolis of Chennai.


The ladies have reportedly been charged with violating the Wildlife Conservation and Safety Act of 2019, the Animal Illness Act of 2015 and the Customs Act of 2017.
